ANIMAL CARE PROVIDER
The Dawson County Humane Society is seeking full-time Animal Care Providers to join our animal shelter team. If you love animals, are reliable, energetic, and meet the qualifications listed below, then we may have the perfect opportunity for you.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Feed all dogs and cats their proper, required diet, water, and appropriate rations.
- Daily cleaning and sanitizing of kennels, litter boxes, and equipment, as needed.
- Assist with grooming, bathing, and exercise that helps improve the animals mental and physical health
- Participate in social and behavioral training of animals to enhance their well-being and adaptability.
- Attend and assist with regular adoption events.
- Help maintain a clean and orderly work environment throughout the interior and exterior shelter area
- Handle all animals in a safe, humane, and fear-free manner.
- Assist with public intake and adoptions in a friendly, professional manner.
- Promote a culture of teamwork and positivity with other staff members and volunteers.
- Perform all other duties assigned to you but not listed above.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Desire to work and care for dogs, cats, and other shelter animals.
- Ability to work outside in the heat or cold weather, whenever applicable and needed.
- Must have a current driver’s license to be considered for driving company vehicles, otherwise a valid state ID is required along with personal transportation.
- Must be able to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
- Hours are from 8 AM – 5 PM and includes most weekends.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must have the ability to work in normal office environments and/or, a kennel environment that will include noxious odors and high noise levels.
- Must be able to interact with internal teammates and external customers in a positive, friendly attitude at all times.
- Must have the ability to deal with an often fast-paced and changing workload
EARNINGS AND BENEFITS:
- Starting pay is $13.50 per hour. You will be eligible to receive a $1.00 raise after satisfactorily completing our 60-day training/probationary period. You will then receive a review and raise on your anniversary date, thereafter.
- Holiday Pay. After your 60-day probationary period, you will be paid an additional 8 hours for working any of the posted holidays.
- Vacation Pay (Paid time off, or PTO). Full-time teammates will begin to earn vacation/PTO hours, after successfully completing your 60-day probationary period.
- Paid weekly with direct deposit for your immediate access and convenience.

RECEPTIONIST
The Dawson County Humane Society is seeking full-time and part-time Receptionists to join our animal shelter team. If you love animals, are reliable, energetic and meet the qualifications listed below, then we may have the perfect opportunity for you.
JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Answer all phone calls and emails promptly and professionally.
· Greet guests, customers, clients and teammates in a pleasant and positive tone.
· Graciously accept all donations. Log properly, as per shelter procedures.
· Sort and file forms, documents, and other paperwork properly
· Keep reception, break room and restroom areas neat, and office, clean and organized at all times.
· Walk dogs on a regular basis.
· Learn proper owner surrender policies and procedures.
· Interact with potential foster and adoption parents in a knowledgeable and thankful manner.
· Interact with volunteers and community service workers.
· Perform data entry, faxing and scanning documents properly and timely.
· Assist all other teammates, as needed.
· Perform other shelter duties not listed above, as needed.
· Support all your teammates with your positive attitude and efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
· High school diploma or GED required
· Computer literate. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and other office software.
· Must be able to lift 30-40 pounds.
· Must be articulate with a positive, outgoing personality.
· Must have personal transportation to and from the shelter.
· Full-time position is Tuesday – Saturday, 8 AM – 5 PM, scheduled days may vary.
· Part-time position includes most weekends, plus some afternoons and other hours.
· Ability to multi-task between phone, internal and external clients without losing composure.
· Ability to handle difficult phone and customer discussions in a professional manner.
